Wavey
Wavey was a magazine that I designed for my Publication Design class using Adobe InDesign. My goals for the magazine was to make a project that I truly would read. For example, none of my friends read magazines and I cannot remember the last time I picked one up; or even bought one for that matter. Thus, I wanted to make something I would be both proud of, and a magazine that people like me would either purchase or read in an online format. For I currently get my hip hop/rap news and trends off of Reddit. Part of the assignment requirements was to feature a piece made in Illustrator, and to feature advertisements.
My creative process to copy similar styles and techniques from brand that dominate the hip hop and rap community, so that readers will see something familiar; but with a twist. From the beginning of the semester I knew I wanted to design a magazine reflecting this music genre. I wanted it to be focused on simple visuals, with a clean and easy to read layout. Allowing readers to be able to pick up a copy and read it easily, but also be impressed with visuals and a clean design.
